Weekly Drop-in Sessions

Mindful Mondays 20:15 – 21:15

Come along to our weekly mindful drop-ins.
These sessions will allow you to explore mindful practices, giving you the time and the space to begin your week with self-care, calm and awareness. Sessions will include breathing practices, meditation and poetry, focussing on self kindness, self awareness and connection with nature.

Mindful Art Thursdays 15:45 – 16:45

If you would like to experience the connection between mindfulness and art then join us for our Mindful Art drop-ins. These sessions will blend mindful practices with art making, to help you take the time out of your busy day to just stop, notice and create. No previous art or mindfulness experience is needed, just come and have a play!

Mindful Textiles 19:00 – 18:00

Our Mindful Textiles sessions offers simple textile based craft activities to give you the chance to unwind and create some fun pieces to take home! Activities will vary each session and will include embroidery, simple knitting, pom pom making, phone cases, patchwork quilt making and much more!  Supplies will be provided but feel free to bring along your own fabrics, wool, threads, or any other materials that you would like to work with!

Life can have it’s ups and downs and that is what makes it so beautiful. But, how do we cope when we are experiencing feeling down or anxious?
Making art and exploring our creative side can really help improve our mood, confidence, creativity and overall feelings of calm.

Mindfulness can also help you to cope better with every day emotions, both big and small…the combination of art AND mindfulness can help you to see the world through new eyes and to see yourself in a kind and positive light!

Benefits of mindfulness:

  • Improved self-awareness
  • Improved feelings of calm
  • Improved resilience and ability to deal with emotions
  • Improved ability to relate to self and others

Testimonials from other courses at The Owl & The Coconut :

“Noticing more, stopping emotional spirals, enjoyed having a time every week specifically for myself.”

“I am able to notice my emotions and not become irritated or overwhelmed.”

“I feel like I have tools to deal with what life throws at me. I am able to take the space to help myself and ask others for help.”

These workshops will explore the link between yoga and colour through the medium of paint. We will begin by practicing asana and pranayama, then yoga nidra and move onto painting as it relates to the specific focus of each workshop which will vary in each session. The workshops promise to be a fun exploration with various contributors. These are all donation only workshops. “Give what you can. Take what you need.” All donations kindly received are to go to ‘Reach Out to The Community’, a food and shelter charity based in Chorlton. Vegan food will be shared.

3rd Saturday of the month 1-3pm: 19th May. 23rd June. 21st July…

Stop. Notice. Create. At the LUBAINA HIMID: HARD TIMES   Preston Harris Museum and Art Gallery

Join us to Stop. Notice. Create. Adding a creative mindful pause to your day.

Stop to see, touch and feel the mixed media artwork in the LUBAINA HIMID: HARD TIMES exhibition.

Notice the contact of your feet on the floor as you move around the gallery space. Notice any thoughts, feelings and responses to the artwork that come to mind. Notice what you feel in your body.

Create your own piece of mindful art to take home. Inspired by the ‘Inside the Invisible, 2002’ art work.

You don’t need to be good at art or have ever meditated before. You just need to be willing to give it a try and see what happens. Join us on a Mindful Art journey, to Stop. Notice. Create.
