Thank you so much Levenshulme for welcoming The Bee With No Name!
Here at The Owl and The Coconut we had a super time meeting so many fab local community members from all walks of life, young and old, in our five community consultation sessions and all the online ideas sharing!
What do you love about Levenshulme?
We asked you, “What do you love about Levenshulme” and wow you said a lot! A sense of community was at the heart of it all, with friendly people, sleeping cats, the bustling market, the 192 and all of the iconic buildings of Levenshulme that build the fabric of this amazing place.
It’s was a big challenge to turn the big blank canvas of the bee into a community work of art! How could we do justice to capturing the vibrancy, life and soul of Levenshulme and represent it all on a giant bee? It’s clear that Levenshulme artist Jodie Silverman has done a fab job! What an amazing artist she is!

Massive thanks to everyone involved in the community creation. We’ve had a big input from so many local folk including Levenshulme Market, Levenshulme Traders Association and Levenshulme Youth Project to name a few. Levenshulme Old Library, the new Arts Centre, was the perfect place to paint the bee, with ALL FM getting sneak peeks of the work in progress!
The Bee has now landed in Levenshulme, so enjoy and share with your friends and family far and wide! Find it on the A6, on Levenshulme Village Green at the end of Chapel Street #thebeewithnoname
There are over 100 more bees hidden around Manchester, so do have a go at spotting them all! Download the app at https://beeinthecitymcr.co.uk/art-trail
